Empowering Local Impact

Overview of Rotary Grants

The Murfreesboro Breakfast Rotary Club Foundation (MBRC Foundation) collects funds each year and awards grants to local nonprofits making a difference in our community. Our focus is on 501(c) organizations directly serving Rutherford County, especially those working in areas like education, health and human rights, hunger, and other pressing community needs.

We welcome both new and returning applicants:

  • First-year grantees receive a capped award but are encouraged to apply again in future years.
  • Multi-year grantees are valued partners, and we love seeing organizations grow with Rotary’s continued support.
  • All grant recipients are encouraged to visit a Rotary meeting for a speaking engagement or drop in during their award year—we enjoy building real relationships with the organizations we support.

Why We Give

It’s simple: because we can. Service is in our DNA. The best way to strengthen our community is to support the nonprofits already doing vital work in specific areas. By granting funds, we multiply their impact and help ensure Rutherford County continues to thrive.

What’s the Process?

  • Applications open: June each year
  • Applications close: End of July

Notification: Winners are announced in August, with funds awarded before the month ends

Our application is straightforward—we only ask for the essentials and a few supporting documents. We believe in making the process easy so nonprofits can stay focused on their mission.

How We Raise Funds

Grants are funded through MBRC Foundation events, most notably the Boro BBQ Festival and the Tidwell Golf Tournament. When you attend or sponsor these events, you’re directly fueling the grants that support nonprofits across Rutherford County.

Total Grants Awarded

To date, we’ve given back $300,000+ to the community—including $100,000 in 2025 alone!
